Going to password town: Lastpass

I am terrible with keys. Since I was I kid I have always been bad at remembering where I left things, my mother use to tell me all the time, if your head wasn’t attached to your body, you would lose it too. I have been using Internet for a while now, and I have so many accounts and so many passwords. As the safety rules for passwords constantly increase, it is very hard to keep track of all of them! For example: let’s say you started 10 years ago with “mykitty”. By now, your password probably looks something like “MyKitty123%%#21dd” and if you’re like me, you have forgotten a bunch of them between the first and latest one during this password evolution. In the modern world remembering passwords probably is one of the most painful things on the planet, after keeping track of your keys. So like my keys, passwords are easy to forget, and an easy way to freak out!

But relax. Thanks to the magic of the Internet, we can use secure digital password vaults.  These digital vaults, called password managers, will encrypt your passwords and help keep you safe from even the most technologically advanced hackers. There are several ways to manage them. All modern browsers contain a password manager, but they are only safe if you set a master password. As an alternative to the browsers, you can use an external program like LastPass1Password ,or Keepass to generate unique, random character passwords for each site that you visit.

In my effort of making your marketing platform more effective, we are going to use many different online tools and we are going to create different accounts for different purposes. In my experience, as a Marketing Coordinator and using different online tools, there is one password manager that I really like, which is Lastpass. Lastpass encripts all our passwords and keeps them safe in one place. You can use it as it Add-On for Google Chrome. Lastpass is going to live on the right corner of your browser, the reason why I selected Chrome, is because it integrates nicely and seamlessly to google apps, a great tool that I will be reviewing in the future.
Screen Shot 2014-02-12 at 12.35.23 PMLastpass, is going to turn quickly into your best friend. Basically, you sign in once when you start your browsing, and it will start safely collecting  your passwords, it will also generate passwords with the needed special characters, increasing security. Lastpass will turn into your best ally.
The interface is pretty simple and straight forward. The vault has all the sites with your passwords attached, where you can sign in to your different saved websites. You can create folders and organize them. Trust me, it will change your life.
